Mix - King of kings performed by Ogu Genevieve and Ochei Johnpaul
I realize that not everyone will have a pocket orchestra and overdubbed voices to accompany them as they perform, but I hope they have similar joy in singing "King of Kings" as Genevieve and Johnpaul did. I thrill to their beautiful voices and reverent feelings.
This Christmas song is so special to me. I remember the night I was inspired to write it. Not much holy going on at my house. Seems that all of my children decided to have stomach flu in the same 24 hour period. As I stayed up through the night passing the bucket, I still managed to find time to look out the window. The night was beautiful with new snow glistening by the light of the almost full moon. The stars were so bright that thoughts of Christmas soon to came to mind. I remember thinking that the heavens look down upon those who serve in stressful situations and give them added strength.
As I pondered the beautiful night and the bright stars, I thought of the baby who was born on a starlit night to be the Savior of the World. Soon a melody formed in my mind and then the words came in a flood of inspiration. Incredibly, I was able to play around with the melodies, words and accompaniment figures in my mind through the night and hold onto them long enough that when morning came and the crisis was over, I could go to the piano and write all the ideas down on manuscript paper. What a blessing to have something wonderful to think about to sustain me through a terrible situation.
This song was quite literally given to me to brighten a very dark night. I am grateful for inspiration that strengthened me and brought forth this beautiful Christmas song honoring the Savior of the World, the King of Kings.
