This little Christmas song may or may not have roots back to an African Christmas carol. My mother taught this to me when I was very young. I doubt if she ever knew exactly where it came from. Knowing my mother, she played and sang it her way, anyway.
When I was in Junior High School in Texas, I created this little arrangement for two-part Treble voices. The Chorus Teacher liked it enough that she allowed the girls of the choir to sing it on the Christmas Concert. I was so pleased that they all liked it so much. It is simple and lovely. I have used it for Children's Chorus as well as SA Chorus and Duets.
Enjoy it this Christmas Season!
