Elementary School Chorus Concerts
What to do for Elementary School Chorus Concerts? How long should it take to teach the songs? Do I use a few Narrators, or many, or none at all? Many Music Teachers run out of ideas for chorus concerts. Here are some that seem to be used a lot: Under the Sea, Outer Space, Down on the Farm, Wild West, Time Travel, The Great Outdoors, Sports, Mystery, Spring, Christmas, Movin' On, and so forth.
Here are a few 4th-5th Grade Chorus Concert Programs that use songs borrowed from the original Children's Musicals at BaileyKidsMusicals.com.

From Fables to Folktales
Using a variety of songs pulled from children's musicals, this concert tells of the famous storytellers who gave us so many wonderful fables and folktales from all over the world. These tales have been told and retold for generations. Many have important morals promoting Character Values that we would do well to live by today such as Honesty, Sincerity, Kindness, Bravery, Cooperation, Appreciation and Work.
The Script for this concert is written featuring up to 33 different Narrators and a few soloists. Each narration "lead-in" gives a brief historical setting about the fable or folktale. The concert may be staged simply by the chorus on risers or as a modified Musical Revue complete with costumes and dancing.
These stories and songs are simply irresistible!

Tales of Faraway Places
Many children long to travel, to see what's out in the world. They dream of life as it was in days gone by and in places far away. They also wonder where their life experiences will take them. Will they be doomed to repeat failed sagas of the past or forge ahead going on quests of their own?
These are a collection of songs from Children's Musicals that tell of longing, dreaming, planning, and doing from various cultures around the world and from various times in history. The Narrators may dress in concert attire like the Chorus or carry a prop or costume piece that will help identify them as a character such as Mouse Ears for "The Country Mouse and the City Mouse," or tri-cornered hats for the Captain and 1st Mate from "The Adventures of Dick Whittington."
