Santino explained that although he played the bad guy in the recent hit movie "Frozen," he wanted everyone to know that was just ACTING. He wanted to leave Utah making sure everyone knew that he was really a good guy. The songs he chose to sing on the concert were upbeat and fun and just left you feeling HAPPY. All of these songs, even the ones we sang by ourselves, were joyous and full of optimism. How can you frown when you hear and watch the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing "Whistle While you Work" and "Heigh Ho" from Disney's Snow White? And, oh yes, we actually whistled! At least we puckered up. Some of us ladies can't really whistle. The men did well, though.
To top off the concert, we joined Santino in singing a medley of happy songs from Broadway shows and Movies. Each of the songs either contained the word 'happy" in the lyrics or was about how to be happy. We even sang some of the Pharrell Williams hit song "Happy." The audience went wild. They tried to clap along. They were supposed to clap on beats 2 and 4, but with the time delay in the vast Conference Center hall, the clapping noise came back to us terrifically behind the beat. It was really off! What a mess! But, who cares? They were showing their exuberance and gratitude. We singers in the choir were not allowed to clap or snap our fingers or even move or sway. But we sure wanted to!!!!! It was a terrific concert! Oh yes, and our own "rock star" Rick Elliott gave another stellar performance with his organ solo -- this time taking the entire orchestra along with him for the ride.
