I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go - SATB and SA Arranged by Betsy Lee Bailey
Text by Mary Brown 1856-1918 Music by Carrie E. Rounsfell 1861-1930
This beautiful hymn of resolution speaks of willingness to go and serve and share the joys of the gospel with those throughout the world. The verses and chorus tell of willingness to go anywhere necessary, to say kind words and give unselfish service, and to be what the Lord would have us be. This arrangement was written to make a small mixed SATB choir sound good. (We have sung it as a family for a mission farewell.)
The verses are mostly in unison or have sections with very easy harmony and the chorus is simply in hymnbook harmony. The addition of the obligato creates interest against the flowing ripples of the piano accompaniment. It may be played by a treble C instrument such as Flute, Oboe or Violin. This piece is propelled forward until the very end with the motion in the accompaniment suggesting the rise and fall of waves -- "I'll Go Where You Want Me to Go, Dear Lord."
