This stirring anthem was written to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Baltimore Maryland Stake. Many of the saints there are first generation converts to the Church. They are those who have heard the clarion call and have true pioneer spirit. This anthem celebrates all those valiant pioneers who push bravely forward in all quarters the world, ever building on a legacy of faith. "Building on a Legacy of Faith" SSATB, Piano, and 2 Flutes won an Award of Distinction in the 2006 Church Music Submissions.
The Salt Lake City Mission has been using this simplified version as their Mission song. I am pleased and so humbled that the young missionaries love this song so much and have sung it for every meeting and devotional (even Zoom meetings) this year even during the 2020-2021 Covid-19 pandemic.
