America, the Beautiful, SSA with opt. descant
This arrangement came about from the request of my sisters. Each voice has a featured verse in an appropriate key. We have been requested to sing this piece more often than anything else in our repertoire. The optional descant is wonderful when more than 3 voices are singing.
My four daughters and I sang this for a special memorial service just after the World Trade Towers came down on 9/11/2001. Singing the line "Thine alabaster cities gleam undimmed by human tears" will never be the same for me again. I can barely sing through the tears during that verse.
