Our 10 month-old grandson Jericho is constantly being scrutinized as to whether he looks more like his dad Mitchell or his mom Jaicee. It's the favorite sport talked about at our family gatherings. That little grandson will be welcoming a new baby sister in November. And that will likely shift the focus to the new baby. But not for long, in February, twins will be coming to my daughter Cami's family. The sport will continue on...
All this baby talk has gotten me contemplating twins. We have no idea if they will look alike or even be the same gender. Yet, that got me thinking about God's master plan, and how marvelous it is that even as so many people are born each day on this earth, they all look different. Some might look similar, especially in families, but there are differences. Height, weight, build, hair, skin and eye colors, hair types and colors, and so on, not to mention personality differences.
And isn't this amazing! I for one am grateful that people come in so many different flavors!
So I have resorted to looking at pictures of our three boys when they were young. I have even coerced some of my grandchildren (boys and girls) to let me take their pictures in various poses for reference photos.
What I found through this effort is that I have seen a lot of Ellis in his sons and grandsons.
My goal in writing his story, "Turn Upside Down and Push" is to help Ellis' grandchildren get to know him.
His story is powerful, and I hope that the finished product will honor him the way I hope it will.
