Hero - for unison Children's Chorus
"Hero" was written as the message song for the Children's Musical "Momotaro." This show is from an ancient Japanese folktale.
Momotaro is a boy who was prayed for by his aging parents. He is delivered from the river by the River Spirit from inside a peach. His parents raise him, and his father trains him in the martial arts so that he can defend his village. He goes off on a Quest to fight the Oni Monsters. On the way he is joined by some animal friends who help him on his Quest. They defeat the the Oni Monsters and return victorious. Momotaro is declared a HERO.
The production is done in Kibuki Theater style and the music reflects the common pentatonic harmonies and musical motifs.
